The Institute was founded by the decree of the Council of
Ministers of the USSR of February 26, 1946 on the basis one of M.M. Gromov
LII laboratories under a name of the SRI-2 (NII-2) with the purposes of
scientific support of aviation weapons systems development. After several
changes of names and status, on March, 24, 1994 to the Institute having at
this time the name GosNIIAS, the status of the State
Centre of Science of the Russian Federation was assigned.
By the order of the Russian Aerospace Agency FGUP “GosNIIAS”
was determined as a parent organization on
realization of unified scientific-technological policy of aviation industry
in the field of avionics for flight vehicles of civil and military aviation.
