The systematic compilation of GosNIIAS museum collection dates back to 1971. For more than 30 years materials on technical and scientific achievements of the Institute in combat aircraft development area and early weapon models produced before, during and after the World War II have been collected. To date the weapon collection is made up of over 120 depositary items.
The GosNIIAS History Museum is a member of the “Association of workers of aviation enterprise museums” Trans-regional non-governmental organization and is a participant of Russia national museums festivals, for which it has been awarded diplomas.
The Museum has been reconstructed in order to expand its area of exposition up to 500 square meters and to arrange the museum exposition as two thematic collections: “Aviation weapons” and “Science” which are the core business areas of GosNIIAS.
The museum items and museum exhibits are showcased in two halls:
Hall 1 displays domestic airborne weapon models created before, during and after the World War II (Hall “Aviation weapons”).
Hall 2 presents the scientific and production activities of the Institute from 1946 to the present day (Hall “Aviation systems”).
The approximate number of exhibit items comprising the museum collection is 800 in depositary units.
The Institute management would appreciate any contribution such as a new exhibit donation, memoirs and suggestions, or any other help.
