ruSBSS HETEROGENEOUS DISTRIBUTED DATA BASE REPLICATION TECHNOLOGY

GosNIIAS offers a family of ruSBSS data base replication systems.

Purpose

ruSBSS data base session-based synchronization (replication) systems are designed for bidirectional synchronization (replication) of data in homogeneous and heterogeneous data bases.

ruSBSS data base session-based synchronization system (ruSBSS) family comprises three products:

  • SBSS (Federal Service for Intellectual Property certificate No 2014662159)

  • uSBSS (Federal Service for Intellectual Property certificate No 2014662504)

  • rSBSS (Federal Service for Intellectual Property certificate No 2014662598)

Application areas

  • data exchange in homogeneous and heterogeneous distributed data bases;

  • child data base remote administration in distributed information systems;

  • remote query execution in consolidating data bases from distributed information system child sites.

The list of supported DBMSs (data base management systems)

The early version of distributed data base session-based synchronization system (SBSS) supported only Microsoft SQL Server DBMSs. Figure 1 schematically presents the list of DBMSs supported by ruSBSS to date.

SBSS multi-server core architecture does not limit its coverage to solely above mentioned DBMSs. This approach naturally calls for further extension of ruSBSS-supported DBMSs list. There is every reason to believe that this is just a question of time.

History

The early version of session-based synchronization system (SBSS) entered service in 2002 to provide information interaction of distributed data bases, whose components were located in Moscow, Washington and New York.

Since then ruSBSS system has gone through active development, improvement and implementation phases. At present it is used to support data exchange in a dozen of geographically distributed (and specifically, continentally distributed) information systems, each containing from 40 to 200 child sites. The recorded information loading within a single replication session is between 100 and 1 000 000 data entries (up to 500 Mbyte of raw data). The recorded number of sync agent installations is over 1000.

ruSBSS key features

One of key features favorably distinguishing ruSBSS technology from other data base replication technologies is the commonality of end-user interface and design process methodology for information exchange plans in multi-server (heterogeneous) environment. Unlike a traditional method this approach obviates the need for distributed heterogeneous system developers to use different replication technologies within a single distributed system. Meanwhile, training of IT-specialists truly competent in various replication systems is actually a cost- and time-consuming challenge.

The application of session-based synchronization system special tools enables information exchange in protected networks. These unique tools allow drawing a clear distinction between information exchange task and information security assurance task, which in turn allows using various state-of-the-art technologies completely complying with specific domain requirements while addressing the latter task.

With the aid of ruSBSS remote query module child site front-end applications can query other distributed system data bases and process on the client side received data sets in accordance with application task requirements. Short-time connection technology employed allows operating even in networks with poor quality communications links.
